Tips for a balanced nutrition

Tips for a balanced nutrition

A great challenge of our time, particularly in Western countries, is sedentary life. In many studies, sedentary lifestyle has been shown to be associated with an increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The French Ministry of Health, in the framework of the National Health and Nutrition Program for 2019, introduces something new. It recommends the citizens of the country every two hours to get up from their chair and eat a handful of unsalted nuts.

  • This proposal is initiating by calling on the French to consume products from local producers, to choose them on a period-by-time basis, and to be - if possible - organic. There is also a need to consume less meat.
  • Specifically, regarding meat, citizens are encouraged not to consume more than 500 grams per week and to be preferably white (chicken, turkey). With regard to sausages, it is noted that they should not exceed 150 grams (about 3 slices of ham) per week.
  • Emphasis is placed on the need for inclusion in the pulse diet at least twice a week, while consumption of five fruits and vegetables per day remains always up to date.
  • Last but not least, experts recommend reducing salt and dairy products (two portions a day instead of three before).
